bbbaaayyylllsss asked: I'm 5'5 and 190 pounds, my weight, has ruined relationships, friendships, and my own self confidence, it has stopped from being my old happy go lucky self ,I was once told I had a bubbly personality and I was vibrant, now I'm depressing, and quiet.I'm starting college next year, and I want to enjoy that time in my life, and love myself.but I'm so lost and I Do not have any support, don't know where to start.
I was in this exact emotional state at this time last year. I’m a freshman in college now, and I want you to know that it is possible to turn all of this around by the time you graduate.
Where to start? Get up and get a glass of cold water. Right now. I’m serious. You’re not starting tomorrow, that kind of thinking leads to an infinite amount of “I’ll start tomorrow”.
Go get a piece of paper and a pen. Write down everything you’ve eaten today. Everything. Now go to google and search for how many calories are in each of those foods. Add it all up. Scary, right?
This is going to be a long fucking road, and you need to acknowledge that. But you WILL put in the work because you DESERVE better than this.
You need to invest in a sports bra, a good pair of running shoes, and weekly trips to the grocery store to gather fruits and vegetables.
I recommend bananas, kiwis, pears, strawberries, celery, anything like that.
You will cut these into pieces and always have a Ziploc bag full of healthy goodies with you. When you get hungry, you can dig into this bag instead of stopping at the drive-thru.
Also, buy a few packs of sugarfree mint gum. I’m pretty much always chewing a piece of Orbit Sweet Mint sugar free because it’s fucking delicious and tricks my brain into thinking that I’m eating.
If you have a job or any means of income, it will make all the difference to invest in a gym membership.
Don’t worry about people seeing you work out, they’re all at the gym for the same reason that you are.
I highly recommend the elliptical because it burns almost as many calories per hour as running, but it won’t be nearly as hard on your body because it is one fluid movement that works out every muscle group.
Elliptical, stair climber, situps. The situps are going to be insanely hard at first, but it’s amazing how quickly they get easier. They melt away belly fat like nothing I’ve ever seen.
If, for whatever reason, you can’t make it to a gym there are literally thousands of workouts that you can do in the privacy of your own room.
Situps, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, yoga and pilates (look up routines online, there are oodles of free tutorial videos), pushups, ANYTHING that will make your heart race and your muscles burn.
There’s basically no excuse to not do this.
If you can, find someone else who wants to commit to losing weight. This is infinitely easier and more enjoyable when you can share it with someone. Also remember that I will always be here to help you. If you want me to respond privately just ask.
I have no qualms with privately sharing my phone number with those who are dead serious about becoming thinner. I am so proud of you for choosing to start this. Just keep in mind that the first days are the hardest, and that it will only get easier as you get into shape. <3
I’m begging you to stay in touch, it would mean the world to me.
